Utilizing the "glafit Electric Cycle NFR-01 Pro," a trial event will be held on December 15th with the aim of creating a sustainable community in the Yanbaru region, a World Heritage Site, and supporting the local community with safe and environmentally friendly mobility.
Kunigami Village has been selected for the Japan Tourism Agency's "New Discovery" Regional Tourism Project, which is titled "Improve tourism pollution reception to make the village tourist-friendly and earth-friendly! The 400,000 annual visitors to the World Natural Heritage site of Yanbaru, Cape Hedo, will be a force for protecting the region and nature. We will create a business that will generate a profitable and sustainable regional circular economy." As part of this project, we have created a local content and a quick tour around Cape Hedo on an electric bicycle, and have conducted demonstration projects with people from both inside and outside the region. In order to allow more people to experience it, we will hold an experience event that anyone can participate in. Our company plans and manages the project.
Background of the "New Mobility Service" Model Business
Cape Hedo, Kunigami Village, and Hedo Village are small villages with a population of about 80 people. In order to revitalize the area, which is visited by 400,000 people a year, Kunigami Village and private businesses are working together to make Hedo a sustainable tourist destination. There are many narrow roads in the area, and if many ordinary cars are brought in, they will not be able to pass each other. There are also limited parking spaces in the scenic spots around Cape Hedo, and various risks are of concern. In order to protect the natural environment and allow both residents and tourists to spend quality time together, we decided to use electric bicycles in this project. You can experience the history, faith, and rich nature of the area.
This model project will be led by Kunigami Village and private businesses, and will demonstrate whether it can be run sustainably through free rental of vehicles and the implementation of island tours, etc., and will consider ways to introduce new mobility based on the GPS movement data and attributes of the rental vehicles, and surveys of tour participants.

Rentals are available for 30 minutes free of charge at the Cape Hedo Tourist Information Facility in Kunigami Village. Anyone aged 16 or over can use the service. You can tour around on a rental electric bicycle using a sightseeing map that lists recommended spots, or you can participate in a quick tour of about 30 minutes on the spot. A community development coordinator will also be available at the booth to give you advice on how to use the bicycle. No reservations are required, and participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of registration.
